Celtic dropped points for just the second time in the Scottish Premiership this season as Hibernian survived a late onslaught to claim a 0-0 draw at Easter Road.

Brendan Rodgers' men paid for their efforts in a pulsating 2-2 Champions League draw against Atletico Madrid on Wednesday and were subdued until a raft of substitutions in the second-half.

James Forrest came closest to breaking the deadlock for the Scottish champions when he volleyed onto the crossbar from a corner late on.

Hibs held out to extend Rodgers' wait for a win at Easter Road in four attempts over his two spells in charge of Celtic.

"I thought by the time we started to play with the speed and tempo we like, it was too late," said Rodgers.

"We just didn't play with enough speed. We did that in the last 20-25 minutes and the game looks different for us. By that time, we just couldn't make the breakthrough."

The Hoops edge eight points clear of Rangers, who can cut the gap at the top down to five with victory over Hearts on Sunday.

St. Mirren moved level on points with Rangers with a 4-0 thrashing of St. Johnstone to continue their fine start to the season.
